Blackberry Picking

It's that time of the year when Summer is coming to a close and Autumn is creeping in. Its also the time when the brambles are full of fruit! We took our little children out blackberry picking to enjoy the last few warm days and to see that food doesn't always come from a shop.

There's still a lot of flowers around which we saw on our way to find some blackberries.

We live nearby some open green spaces surrounded by brambles so it didn't take us long to find lots and lots of blackberries.

I did most of the picking.

And both children helped. Abigail was pretty good at picking them, but Theo kind of squished them up and when he did manage to pick them he just ate them.

We walked through some woods and discovered some leaves are already starting to fall.

Our blackberry picking was very successful!!

Abigail used some of the blackberries to make a crumble.

I think blackberry picking is a lovely activity to do with children. It gets them out in the fresh air, plenty of exercise and teaches them about where our food really comes from. And what a sense of accomplishment for our 3 year old, to pick her own fruit and then make her own pudding with it!

I'm with you all the way, it is great for children to be able to cook and eat what they grow or pick. It also fun to do and part of childhood. I love the happy look on your daughters face when she's finished making the crumble. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
